ZOO Liberec

It is the oldest Czech ZOO (open in 1919) and it is situated close to the city center of Liberec. The Liberec ZOO is the only one in the Central Europe, which breeds white tigers brought to the ZOO in 1994. Aside from the tigers, visitors can also admire the exhibitons of panthers, seals, penguins, a pavilion of apes, free run of chimpanzees, a utility building and breeding equipment for birds of prey and rare species of birds. In the ZOO complex there are also refreshment possibilities and attractions for kids.

The ZOO Liberec is the oldest in the area of former Czechoslovakia. It was founded in 1919. It was used in part as the winter quarters for circus animals. Long after WWII, when Jiří Badalec was appointed the director, an essential modernization of the garden started.
