The ZOO is located in the beautiful Troja basin to the north of the city center. The pavilion of felidae, the large aviary for birds of prey, the pavilion of big mammals, free runs for giraffes and polar bears, the pavilion of gorilles and the African House belong to the most interesting exhibitions. In the complex there is a cableway, a train, a children’s playground, two restaurants, information stands and numerous possibilities of refreshment and souvenirs. The ZOO offers to its visitors many interesting meeting and animal presentations, animal feeding, lectures on animals and other events.


The zoological garden is located on valuable natural science area, which is interesting in terms of geological, botanical and zoological. Diversity of field shaping makes it possible to keep the animals in an almost natural. Original ecosystems is nowadays in many places heavily amended earlier modern human activities, in many localities, however, still remains a very valuable species diversity and may be here frequently encounter rare and endangered species. The natural wealth is obviously necessary to properly care for and this also applies to the Prague Zoo. Therefore, it was under the USES (territorial system of ecological stability) is divided into three zones - natural, mixed and shutter-operating. Each requires a different method of management so that they maintain (or returned), a typical community.
